ECAC Mission Statement:

The Elmore County Agri-Business Coalition is a volunteer non profit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting agriculture and agricultural rights in Elmore County in a positive and proactive manner  through education and community interaction.

Our members include ag producers, cattlemen, dairymen and supporting businessmen as well as concerned citizens from all areas of Elmore County and across Southern Idaho.

ECAC is registered with the Sate of Idaho as a  501-(C)(6) non-profit Corporation

Meet the Officers

Dave Bergh
President

Dave is a long time Elmore County resident and currently farms 1,000 acres of irrigated row crop and forage production acreage south of Mountain Home. He and Stephanie live on the family farm with their sons.  He also serves on the local and national Sugar Beet Growers Board.

Mike Grimmett
Vice- President

 

Mike is a life long resident of Elmore County and currently is the owner of Thrifty Auto Sales in Mountain Home. Mike has served as a member of the Elmore County Planning & Zoning Commission and is also a long time Volunteer Fireman with the Mountain Home Fire Dept.


 

Stephanie Bergh
Secretary

Stephanie grew up in Elmore County and has raised her four sons on the family farm. She has been active on the Elmore County Planning and Zoning Commission and has also worked at the Elmore County Growth and development office.

Linda Ramsey

Treasurer

We have a new Treasurer for our organization as of February. She is Linda Ramsey. Linda has been with Northwest Farm Credit Services for many years and brings a wealth of experience with her. She has been very active in the community serving with 4H and Optimist programs in Elmore County as well as Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations throughout the years. We appreciate all of the time and dedication she shows in all of these positions and we are very happy she has agreed to be a part of our group. Linda lives in Mountain Home with her husband Randy and their daughter Sandy.

The Board of Directors for ECAC is composed of a diverse group of men and women representing all sectors of the Agri-Business industry throughout Elmore County.

*    Formation of group in June 2005

*    Filed articles of Incorporation with State of Idaho

*    Adopted bylaws and elected Officers and Board Members

*    Made presentation to Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce

*    Made presentation to Mountain Home Lions Club

*    Made presentation to Glenns Ferry Chamber Of Commerce

*    Joined Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry Chambers

*    Joined Elwyhee Business Association

*    Recorded radio spots with the NW Ag Info Network

*    Interviewed with Capital Press

*    Interviewed with Ag Weekly

*    Facilitated meetings between County Commissioners and ID Sate Dept. of Ag personnel

*    Provided oral and written testimony at CAFO Ordinance Public Hearing,

*    Provided oral and written testimony at Rhead CAFO Permit Public Hearing

*    Provided oral and written testimony at Lone Pine Dairy Permit Public hearing.

*    Provided ongoing input to County Commissioners throughout the CAFO Ordinance review process

*    Put on display @ Elmore County Fair

*    Put on display @ Lions Club Car Show

*    Put on Display @ AFAD

*    Dinner on a Farmer @ Fall Harvest Festival

*    Published ‘Code Of the West’ booklet

*    Attended Wind Power Working Group meetings

*    Facilitated meetings between Wind Power  Advocates, Airspace Management personnel and County Commissioners

*    Submitted various editorials to Mountain Home News

*    Submitted various articles for publication in Elwyhee Hilites

*    Submitted 12 Row Beet Harvester article for publication to various periodicals

*    Provided oral and written testimony at various P & Z meetings  and Public Hearings regarding development issues on Ag land

*    Attended P&Z Meetings to monitor the review of the Elmore County Zoning Ordinance

*    Provided quarterly newsletters

*    Established and maintained website to promote ECAC and inform members and public about ECAC activities and issues.

*    Provided an overall Ag-Business presence in Elmore County

 

 

ELMORE COUNTY AG FACTS

The economic impact of agriculture in Elmore County is substantial with nearly $300 million in annual value of production of agricultural commodities and livestock.

Over 345,000 acres of Elmore County is devoted to agriculture with approximately 100,000 acres under irrigation and the remainder in dry grazing and non-irrigated forage production.

Average size of farm: 951 acres

Average annual employment: 710

Acres of Forage production: 41,000

Acres of Sugar Beets produced:14,743

Acres of Potatoes produced: 10,082

Acres of Wheat produced:7,222

 #3 in Idaho in Total Value of production

 #5 in Idaho in Sugar Beet production
